A planned overcrossing of Treat Boulevard for bicyclists and pedestrians at the Pleasant Hill BART Station went into construction in 2009. The bridge, which will be within the Iron Horse Corridor, will make it easier and safer for walkers and bicyclists to get to and from the BART station rather than crossing busy Treat Boulevard at ground level.
A design was chosen as a result of community workshops and a visual preference survey. The bridge will cross over Treat Boulevard at Jones Road. The $4.8 million project is under the auspices of the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency. Funds will come from a federal grant, local sales-tax revenue, and Redevelopment Agency funds.
