The Airports Division is a unique part of the Public Works Department, as it is self-funded. No property tax or local funds are used to support and operate Buchanan Field and Byron Airports. In fact, the Airports generate revenue for the County, school districts and various other community agencies.

Board of Supervisors Airport Committee: Supervisors Mitchoff (District IV) and Piepho (District III) comprise this subcommittee of the Board of Supervisors. Meetings are held quarterly at the Director of Airports office regarding aviation related issues.
Aviation Advisory Committee: An 11 member committee that provides recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on aviation issues related to Contra Costa County Airports.
Airports Administrative Staff: Based at the Director of Airports office at Buchanan Field, Airports staff manages the daily operations, maintenance and administration of Buchanan Field and Byron Airports.
