Dispute Resolution Program

Dispute Resolution services include General Dispute Resolution projects as well as Superior Court identified priorities including Small Claims Mediation, Guardianship Mediation, and Unlawful Detainer/Civil Harassment Mediation.

General Dispute Resolution

The goal is to provide an alternative forum for parties to receive mediation, conciliation, and arbitration services as an alternative to more costly, time-consuming, and complex formalized procedures.

Superior Court-Identified Priorities

  1. Small Claims Mediation: Providing an opportunity for small claim litigants to reach resolution through mediation. Mediation services are provided to individuals who file or consider filing cases with the Contra Costa Superior Court.
  2. Guardianship Mediation: Conducting confidential mediation sessions for cases involving contested guardianship issues referred by the Probate Department.
  3. Unlawful Detainer/Civil Harassment Mediation: Conducting same-day mediations for civil harassment and unlawful detainer cases referred by the Court.
