Contra Costa County is home to more than 65,000 veterans, and there are many ways we can pay tribute to them on and around Veterans Day, which is Tuesday, November 11.
The County will host a special ceremony in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 651 Pine Street, in Martinez, on Tuesday, November 4, at 11:00 a.m. You're invited to join us as we honor all our veterans, and recognize the often-overlooked women veterans. Our keynote speaker will be Tara Ricks from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In addition, you'll get a sneak-peek at an upcoming launch of an online exhibit called War Ink, featuring Iran and Afghanistan veterans storytelling through body art.
In addition to the County ceremony, there will be many celebrations and events in our cities. Check back frequently as we update the list of events.
We're currently featuring a veterans essay contest for students in Oakley. Students are invited to share a story about their military hero, and winners will be invited to read their essays at the City's Observance Ceremony on November 11. Get all the details at the City of Oakley website.
To all of our veterans, we thank you for your service.
