The 2019 Humanitarian of the Year, Reverend Donnell R. Jones, and Student Humanitarian of the Year, Pinole Valley High School Senior Yassna Ahmadi, were introduced, and Sheryl Lane served as keynote speaker.

Reverend Donnell R. Jones is the recipient of the Contra County Board of Supervisors' 2019 Humaitarian of the Year Award. He was chosen for his leadership and service to the community spanning 27 years.
In his work in Contra Costa County and beyond, Reverend Jones cares deeply about advocating for peace, justice and violence prevention. He is the Pastor of New Direction Ministries and the owner of New Soul Cafe, both in Richmond.
Reverend Jones is a graduate of UC Berkeley. He considers this County his home, where he serves, mentors and nurtures those in need.

Keynote Speaker, Sheryl Lane, a native of Richmond, CA is the daughter of parents who were born and raised in the segregated South and moved to California in pursuit of greater opportunity. She is currently the Executive Director of Building Blocks for Kids (BBK) in Richmond. Under her leadership and vision, she works with a team to realize BBK's mission to invest in individual transformation to promote thriving families and community change.

Established in 1995, The Los Medanos College Gospel Choir is conducted by founder and 2014 Grammy Quarterfinalist Conductor, Professor Silvester Carl Henderson. The Choir has earned a reputation as the finest community college gospel choir in the State of California.
