Counties Care Holiday Food Fight:  Thank you for making 2015 another big year of giving

Contra Costa County employees are more generous than our residents probably realize.  In the fall, they donate to charity organizations representing a wide range of areas of need through the Combined Charities Campaign.

Each December, staff members volunteer their time, energy and resources to raising money for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.  With a friendly competition between the two counties, and a little more than a decade of rivalry, our cumulative fundraising surpassed the million dollar mark.  That was a wonderful milestone to achieve and since then, County staff have continued their fundraising ways.

Please take a moment to read a heartfelt letter of thanks and encouragement from Food Bank Executive Director Larry Sly.  To County employees and the Contra Costa County community at large, the Food Bank greatly appreciates the support.

The 2015 food fight is now over, but the need continues.  County employees have donated more than $1.2 million over the span of the past 12 years.  You can still get in on the spirit of the holidays by visiting the Food Bank website  and making a donation online.  Thank you for helping families in need in Contra Costa County.

Although the official fundraising ends for the competition on December 31, the need never goes away.  You can contribute as a member of the public as well, and show your support by designating Contra Costa County as your partner organization.
