School Based Deputy Probation Officer Program

Overview
Fifteen Deputy Probation Officers are assigned to schools, eleven out stationed at high schools and four at middle schools throughout the county. These school probation officers (SPO):
  • Provide supervision to youth on formal and informal probation
  • Assist school staff within the classroom and during movements and breaks to maintain a safe campus
  • Collaborate with their school, the local police agency, the CP officer and community-based organizations to coordinate truancy sweeps
  • Intervene when requested by school staff with individual students when that student’s behavior is problematic
