Bay Point Community-Based Transportation Plan

Sponsored by Contra Costa County and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission

Transportation Plan for Bay Point

Bay Point residents, organizations and businesses have helped create the Community-Based Transportation Plan for the Bay Point area.  The planning effort was co-sponsored by Contra Costa County and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.  Contra Costa County’s Community Development Department led the effort.

A variety of methods were used to get public input throughout 2006, including community events and workshops, surveys, a telephone hotline, and this website, to name a few.

The effort was financed through a grant given to the County by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.  The County hired the consulting firms of Moore Iacofano Goltsman (MIG) and Wilbur Smith Associates to assist in the plan, with MIG taking the lead.

The Community-Based Transportation Plan is available for public review by clicking on this link.  The plan is a very lengthy document so it has been divided into several files. In addition to the plan files – or instead of them – you also may review a brief summary of the plan’s recommendations, without all the background and technical information.

The files for the plan and the brief summary also are available in Spanish.

Previous transportation efforts

The plan includes elements of several earlier transportation planning efforts that are still relevant, based on the input we received.  For example, Tri Delta Transit is working with the community to adjust bus routes and schedules and install benches and shelters at some bus stops as requested by Bay Point passengers.  The County Health Services Department is working with the Transportation & Land Use Coalition, Tri Delta Transit and Bay Point’s Latina Transportation Action Team to improve transportation service to health care facilities.

The County Employment and Human Services Department has updated its Low-Income Transportation Action Plan (formerly known as the Welfare-to-Work Transportation Action Plan).

And the County Public Works Department is completing the on-street bicycle lanes along Pacifica Avenue.  Public Works also responds to road repair problems in Bay Point.

The files are all in PDF format which can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader ®. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader ® on your computer, it can be downloaded for free.
