The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County (WDB) is a 37-member business-led public body responsible for coordinating workforce development policy in the county. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors appoints its members.

The WDB’s mission is to promote a workforce development system responding to the needs of the business community, job seekers, workers and youth. The WDB helps develop a strong, vibrant economy and workforce by providing the tools that strengthen individuals, businesses and the community at large.

Key Concepts
The Five-Year Strategic Plan sets forth six important concepts that underscore the WDB’s commitment to meeting the diverse workforce needs of Contra Costa County. The key concepts include:

  • Providing programs and services that are integrated into a seamless and flexible workforce development system
  • Recognizing and supporting life-long learning and self-improvement
  • Allowing public accountability for system results and outcomes
  • Creating opportunities for all individuals to become economically self-sufficient and contributing members of our community
