The Board of Supervisors receives valuable input from numerous volunteer citizen advisory boards on a range of issues. Some members are appointed by individual supervisors to represent their district. Others are at-large.

This includes the Municipal Advisory Councils (MACS) which are appointed by the supervisors to provide input on unincorporated communities. In Supervisor Gioia's District this includes:
- The El Sobrante Municipal Advisory Council
- The North Richmond Municipal Advisory Council
- The Kensington Municipal Advisory Council
- The Montalvin Manor Redevelopment Committee
