Mark Peterson was raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He obtained a Bachelors of Arts in History at the University of Colorado, and his law degree from the University of Denver. He began working at the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office in 1984. Mark was elected to the Concord City Council in 1995, and served as a Councilmember for fifteen years. He was selected as Mayor of the city three times. Mark also serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Youth Center and the One Hundred Club. Mark Peterson was elected District Attorney of Contra Costa County on November 2, 2010. He leads a District Attorney’s Office of 160 employees, including 87 attorneys, with a budget of $30 million.
Mark lives in Concord with his wife Penny, and his three daughters, Courtney, Morgan, and McKenna.
